In August 2023, the government expanded the eligibility criteria for insulation grants, meaning they’re available to more people, and you may be eligible for up to 80-100% off the cost.

What is the Warmer Kiwi Home Grant?

As a homeowner, you may be eligible for a Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant covering up to 90% of the costs to purchase and install insulation to help lower income homeowners improve health, reduce energy use and emissions, while saving money on their power bills.

To be eligible for the insulation subsidy:

  • Be the homeowner (owner-occupier) of a house built before 2008
  • You (the owner) have a Community Services Card, SuperGold Combo or
  • Live in an area identified as NZDep 7, 8, 9 or 10 – we can confirm this for you
  • Even if you have insulation, it might not meet the current standard. Warmer Kiwi Homes Grants can cover additional insulation for your home.

In some regions, the subsidy may be higher, due to funding by local community groups. Please note, funding is limited and some subsidies may not be available in all locations.

After you accept the quote, we’ll work with you to schedule a convenient installation time. You’ll need to sign a contract and pay the non-subsidised portion of the installation cost. Our team will handle the installation process, ensuring that your home is properly insulated and ready for a more comfortable living environment.

The cost of home insulation will depend on the size of your home and whether you need ceiling, underfloor, or both types of insulation. Typically, under the Warmer Kiwi Homes Subsidy, homeowners can expect to pay anywhere between $0 to $800.

Our team will provide you with a detailed quote that outlines the total cost, including the portion that you are responsible for. You’ll have a clear understanding of the cost before the installation process begins.

In some cases, our installers may not be able to access certain areas of your home, such as if there is no space under the floor or in the ceiling. We will do our best to provide alternative solutions or insulation options if certain areas cannot be insulated. Our team will work with you to determine the best approach to insulate as much of your home as possible.

 

No, you are under no obligation to proceed with the installation until you sign a contract with us. We offer a free, no-obligation assessment of your home to provide you with information and options for installation.

If you aren’t eligible for the Warmer Kiwi Homes Subsidy, we will look into other funding options that may be available in your area. However, we will still provide, a free assessment of your home for its insulation needs, with no obligation.

All residential properties must comply with the insulation standards outlined in the Residential Tenancies Act for the Healthy Homes Standard. This includes having ceiling and underfloor insulation where applicable.

We can assess your property and identify areas that require insulation to ensure compliance with the Healthy Homes Standard. Our team will guide you through the process and help make your rental property compliant.

  • Funding is limited, and some grants may not be available in some remote locations or Islands. We’ll be able to advise on this.
  • Unfortunately, the grant only covers Ceiling and Underfloor Insulation. Wall insulation isn’t included.
  • Insulation grants can only be used for the home you own and live in. Not a batch or holiday home.
